Wildfire south of Cawston being held

PENTICTON – It’s getting dry out there.

B.C. Wildfire crews are actioning a small wildfire that broke out this afternoon, June 14, near Sumac Road in the South Similkameen.

Fire Information officer Nicole Bonnett says the fire began earlier this afternoon about 20 km southeast of Cawston.

Three firefighters are attending the fire, following a bird dog survey prior to their arrival at the site.

Bonnett says the fire is currently being held with hose encircling the perimeter of the 0 .2 ha blaze.

Crews are now in the process of watering down the perimeter, and the fire is not expected to grow.
