Snow, fine arts and shopping in line for weekend

VERNON – This weekend boasts numerous ways to soak up arts and culture, get your Christmas shopping done, and enjoy the outdoors (which will soon be dusted in snow).

Environment Canada is calling for a 40 per cent chance of flurries or showers on Saturday, and a good chance of snow on Sunday.

Get in the spirit of the holidays at the Vernon Light-Up Friday starting at 5 p.m. Sip hot chocolate, enjoy a carriage ride, and watch downtown light up. 

The Vernon Public Art Gallery presents Transformations, an exhibit of Okanagan Indian Band artists.

Also featured is an exhibit titled Exposed!, a collection of artwork’s created by the hands of the gallery’s members. 

The Vernon and District Performing Arts Centre presents Alladin’s Lamp, a fusion of circus arts, drama, dance and music, Friday and Saturday night.  

Like reading? How about making? Then pop by Gallery Vertigo Saturday afternoon for a workshop on making chapbooks

Head on up to Silver Star Saturday night for the annual Skiers’ Gala Gala Do, a fundraiser for Adaptive Snow Sports, a program to support disabled skiers. 

Check out the Gypsy Christmas Bizarre Bazzar Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Schubert Centre.
