UPDATE: West Kelowna fire crews extinguish grass fire off lower Glenrosa Road

WEST KELOWNA – West Kelowna fire crews have put out a wildfire that was burning dangerously close to a home, off Glenrosa Road near Paynter Road.

The grass fire was roughly 150 by 50 feet wide when it was sparked this morning, June 18, and grew to a half-acre. It burned from lower Glenrosa Road into the bush on a hillside. It did not produce a lot of visible flame, but there was a lot of smoke.

No buildings were damaged.

Lower Glenrosa Road is now open to traffic.

Fire Chief Jason Brolund said multiple crews from around West Kelowna and Peachland fought the fire along with two crew members from B.C. Wildfire.

Brolund confirmed the fire was started by sparks from construction materials being used in the area.
