Cool and wet week in store for the Okanagan

OKANAGAN – A  cool, wet final week of June appears to be in store for Okanagan residents.

Environment Canada says Monday morning showers should be followed by cloudy skies and a 40 per cent chance of more showers and the risk of a thunderstorm this afternoon.

The high is expected to reach 21 C in Vernon and Kelowna, 23 C in Penticton.

Tuesday it’s expected to be mainly sunny in the morning with increasing cloudiness in the afternoon, followed by a 40 per cent chance of showers later in the day. A high of 24 C and a low of 11 C is expected, along with the threat of a thunderstorm in the afternoon.

There is a 60 per cent chance of showers Tuesday afternoon in Penticton. 

A 30 per cent chance of showers are expected Wednesday under a mix of sun and clouds and a high of 22 C. The nighttime low  will be  11 C.

Thursday is more of the same, with showers and a  high of 19 C. Cloudy conditions and a 60 per cent chance of showers are expected Thursday night, with a low of 11 C

A mix of sun and cloud along with a 30 per cent chance of showers is forecast for Friday, along with a high of 22 C Clouds and a 60 per cent chance of showers is expected overnight, along with a low of 12 C.

Vernon, Kelowna and Penticton normally experience a high and low of 25 C and 11 C this time of year.

I have been looking for news in the South Okanagan - SImilkameen for 20 years, having turned a part time lifelong interest into a full time profession. After five years publishing a local newsletter, several years working as a correspondent / stringer for several local newspapers and seven years as editor of a Similkameen weekly newspaper, I joined iNFOnews.ca in 2014. My goal in the news industry has always been to deliver accurate and interesting articles about local people and places. My interest in the profession is life long - from my earliest memories of grade school, I have enjoyed writing.
As an airborne geophysical surveyor I travelled extensively around the globe, conducting helicopter borne mineral surveys.
I also spent several years at an Okanagan Falls based lumber mill, producing glued-wood laminated products.
As a member of the Kaleden community, I have been involved in the Kaleden Volunteer Fire Department for 22 years, and also serve as a trustee on the Kaleden Irrigation District board.
I am currently married to my wife Judy, of 26 years. We are empty-nesters who enjoy living in Kaleden with our Welsh Terrier, Angus, and cat, Tibbs.
Our two daughters, Meagan and Hayley, reside in Richmond and Victoria, respectively.
