Mounties warn sex workers in Surrey, B.C., over assaults; seek suspect

SURREY, B.C. – A public warning has been issued by police to sex-trade workers in the Metro Vancouver city of Surrey, B.C., because of two recent assaults on women in secluded areas.

RCMP Staff Sgt. Joe Johal says one distraught woman flagged down officers earlier this month in the Newton area after an assault on nearby King George Boulevard.

He says police searched the area with a dog but were unable to find a suspect.

Johal says about a week later, another sex-trade worker reported she had experienced an incident at the hands of a suspect with a similar description.

The suspect is a Caucasian male, about 35 years old, stands 5-10, weighs between 200 and 230 pounds, has balding or shaved hair, crooked teeth and may be called “James” or “Jeff.”

Johal says police fear there may be more victims and are asking people who information to come forward.
