Kamloops: Police badge not a universal parking pass

RCMP members do not get their pick of the best parking spots.

It's the message Southeast District Traffic Services is sending after one of its members was caught parking in a handicapped parking stall in the Kamloops area Friday afternoon without due cause.

Kamloops RCMP Const. Bernie Ward said a photograph of a police cruiser illegally parked circulated online.

"The picture was on Facebook," Ward said. "The bosses got wind of it and he was issued a parking violation—just like everybody else."

"The member is being issued with the applicable parking violation ticket along with receiving the appropriate corrective guidance," said Staff Sgt. Terry McLachlan in a press release. "The member will be spoken to in order to ensure a short sighted decision such as the one made regarding proper parking practices does not reoccur."
