More smoke than fire in Glenmore

KELOWNA – No word yet on the cause of a fire that filled a home at 1893 Porthill Drive full of smoke late Friday morning.

Kelowna fire fighters arrived as smoke poured from the upper floor and the roof’s eaves.

A man, the only one in the home at the time, made it out safely thanks to the warning from the smoke detectors in the house.

Crews found the fire in an upstairs bathroom and quickly doused it.

A fire investigator is looking for a cause.

No damage estimate is available.

“The Kelowna Fire Department reminds everyone to check their smoke alarms regularly to be sure they are in good working order,” platoon captain Dennis Miller said.
