PQ Leader Pauline Marois tries to reassure English speaking community

MONTREAL – Parti Quebecois Leader Pauline Marois is trying to reassure members of the province’s anglophone community on edge about the possibility of a PQ government.

Marois was confronted at a campaign stop outside Montreal today by an English school board member worried about a plan to put limits on who can attend English junior college.

Marois, who is leading in the polls ahead of Tuesday’s election, told the man they would find a way to work out the problem.

She later told reporters she wouldn’t abandon Quebec anglophones, without going into specifics.

But some remain concerned — and an English-language rights group is holding a protest in Montreal today against the PQ.

The group is opposed to the party’s plan to strengthen the province’s language law, Bill 101.
