Wynne leaves for weeklong China trade trip; will join Quebec and PEI premiers
TORONTO – Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne is headed to China on a weeklong mission that will see her and the premiers of Quebec and Prince Edward Island talk trade with the Asian economic powerhouse.
Wynne departed Saturday and is taking about 60 Ontario delegates drawn from business and groups working in the fields of clean technology and science.
She will join with Quebec Premier Philippe Couillard and Prince Edward Island Premier Robert Ghiz on Wednesday in Beijing in an effort to boost trade with China, Canada’s second-biggest trading partner.
The Ontario premier’s office says the trip aims to strengthen ties not only with China’s central government but also its provinces, businesses and education sector.
The Council of the Federation, which represents the premiers, says it will be the third such trade mission to China.
