Police ID bicyclist killed on Clive trail as British man

CLIVE, Iowa – Police say a bicyclist killed in a crash along the Greenbelt Trail in Clive was a British man visiting family in Iowa.

Police on Friday identified the victim as 35-year-old Adam Grant Pritchard, of Torquay in England.

Pritchard’s body was discovered Thursday afternoon in a creek beside the trail by a passerby, who called police. As police were investigating, a family member who had been riding along the trail with Pritchard returned to the scene to see why Pritchard never caught up.

Investigators believe Pritchard lost control of his bicycle as he was westbound on the trail and approaching a wooden. Police say it appears he veered off the trail and he dropped about 8 feet onto the rocks and into the creek.

His death remains under investigation.
