
Fire south of Osoyoos grows
OSOYOOS -The Swanson Mill Fire in Okanogan County, which is 20 kilometres south of Osoyoos and across the US-Canada border grew significantly throughout Wednesday.
The Washington State Department of National Resources tweeted that the fire was initially mapped at 20 acres. By the end of the day, they estimated it at 200-plus acres and US air resources had been dispatched.
BC Wildfire said that they were called in to assist, and were sending in two air tankers and one bird dog. The government agency also noted that smoke would likely be visible to Canadians.

By the end of the day, Okanogan County Emergency Management said the fire had been "knocked down, but still active."

The area of the blaze is between Oroville and Tonasket.
