MDA to continue work for Australian air force as RAAF ends Afghanistan mission

VANCOUVER – MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. (TSX:MDA) has received a $40-million contract to provide the Australian air force with continued support for its drone program until December 2017.

Vancouver-based MDA has been providing Australian forces with real-time intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance information in Afghanistan.

Under the deal Tuesday, the company will provide the Royal Australian Air Force with UAV operations and related services within Australia.

MDA says Australia has the option to extend the contract for up to three years after the initial term ends, but didn’t disclose the contract’s maximum value.
