PENSAR helicopter rescues injured biker

PENTICTON – A biker is being treated for leg injuries after Penticton Search and Rescue, with the help of a helicopter, saved him from a remote trail on Saturday.

According to a press release, Penticton Search and Rescue received word just after 4 p.m. on July 6 about a 25-year-old mountain biker who was injured on the Three Blind Mice trails. An off-duty firefighter at the scene provided an assessment and location of the biker using the app "Trailforks."

Working with B.C. Ambulance and Penticton FIre, Search and Rescue deployed its three-person helicopter long line team. Off-road vehicles couldn't reach the biker, so the helicopter team transported him off the trail and into an ambulance.

The biker suffered severe injuries to his right leg.
