Calgary blizzard causing delays at YLW

KELOWNA – Environment Canada has issued a Blizzard Warning for parts of Southern Alberta including Calgary, but the bad weather hasn’t stopped flights getting into and out of the region yet.

Jenelle Hynes does airport marketing and media relations for YLW and says that although there have been a few delays, planes are still taking off and landing at YYC.

“Everything’s going fine here at our airport,” she says. “Flights are a little late getting in because of the winter storms in Alberta and that also causes them to be a little late leaving.”

She says that Air Canada and WestJet are waiving service fees for anyone who would like to rebook for another time and recommends travellers check with their individual airlines if they are scheduled to fly out of or in to YYC over the next couple days.
