Two roll-overs in icy conditions Sunday

VERNON – Two accidents within the Vernon RCMP patrol happened yesterday while roads were slippery.

The first accident happened just after 6 p.m. on Hwy 97, west of Westwold. A Kamloops woman, 53, was driving west and lost control on an icy patch, veering left and rolling at least once down an embankment. Her daughter, 21, was a front seat passenger. Both women were taken to hospital with whiplash type injuries.

The second accident happened at about 10:15 p.m. in the 6200 block of Rimer Road. The single vehicle crash prompted BX fire and EHS to the scene. 

The driver, a 74-year-old man from Vernon was removed from the vehicle with lacerations on his face. He said he hit a slippery section of road and hit the brakes, before the truck left the road and rolled once.
