Bryan Adams concert fastest sell-out in Ticket Seller history

VERNON – Vernon Ticket Seller sold 750 tickets for Bryan Adams' upcoming concert in less than an hour, making it the fastest sell-out ever. 

Tickets for the Feb. 25  show at the the Vernon Performing Arts Centre went on sale at 10 a.m. Monday, and were quickly snapped up online, over the phone and in person. Some people complained that Ticket Seller's site went down, but the company says it did its best to prepare for the online traffic. 

"Our web host provided additional resources to ensure that our website could handle the load," manager Stuart Benoit said in a release. "Despite this, the extraordinary demand and simultaneous requests still exceeded our web sales capability."

Benoit noted the website did still handle over 50% of all ticket sales, with the rest of transactions handled by phone or in person. Extra operators were scheduled to meet the anticipated demand. The wait-list for Bryan Adams tickets is already around 160 names long. 

A Ticket Seller agent says that while the sell-out was extraordinarily fast, it’s not uncommon for the Performing Arts Centre to fill up quickly. It’s been a good year, the agent said, with plenty of shows boasting full houses. The Banff Mountain Film Festival, for instance, is scheduled for Dec. 29 and is already close to sold-out.

"We sympathize with all who were unable to secure tickets for the Bryan Adams show," Benoit said. "We are hopeful that the success of this sale will let other world class performers and promoters know that Vernon is a fantastic destination to add to their tours."
