‘Corner Gas: The Movie’ pumping out plenty of special plans for release
TORONTO – The upcoming “Corner Gas: The Movie” is shifting into high gear with special screening plans as well as three red carpet galas.
Distributors say a pre-taped warm-up show, hosted by series creator and star Brent Butt, will screen before the movie during its theatrical run from Dec. 3 to Dec. 7.
The 20-minute special will end with a rendition of “O Canada” performed by Winnipeg musician Del Barber and The Profiteers.
Movie-goers will also see a closing credit sequence that includes bloopers, out-takes, special messages and performances.
Meanwhile, cast members are slated to make surprise appearances in select theatres across the country during the film’s limited run.
And Butt is expected to be at each of the three red carpet galas in Saskatoon, Regina and Ottawa.
The Scotiabank Theatre Saskatoon screening on Nov. 24 will be the film’s private world debut.
The Nov. 25 screening at Canada Saskatchewan Production Studios will mark the film’s public world premiere.
The Ottawa gala on Dec. 1 is set for the National Museum of History.
Other special plans for the release include random giveaways through a Selfies for Swag promotion.
“Corner Gas: The Movie” is set five years after the CTV series ended in April 2009 and finds the town of Dog River mismanaged and the target of a corporate giant.
Tickets for the theatrical run in select Cineplex theatres go on sale Nov. 14.
After it screens in theatres, the movie will run as a special preview for The Movie Network and TMN GO subscribers in December.
It will then make its network broadcast debut in December on CTV and CTV GO, followed by an airing on The Comedy Network the same month.
A collector’s edition DVD will be available for purchase before the holidays.
