Speaker Boehner sees Keystone pipeline and health care changes as part of republican agenda
WASHINGTON – The leader of the U.S. House of Representatives says the Republican-controlled Congress will act to approve the Keystone XL pipeline, make changes in the health care law and encourage businesses to hire more veterans.
Republican Speaker John Boehner made his remarks at the opening of his first postelection news conference in the Capitol complex.
He also cautioned President Barack Obama not to act unilaterally to change the immigration system, saying it would poison the well in terms of trying to pass legislation over the next two years on the subject.
He said the House will vote again to repeal the health care law but added he isn’t certain that can clear the Senate despite its new Republican majority.
Boehner is in line for a third term as House speaker.
