Almost 2,000 hit the mountain for Toonie Ski day
KAMLOOPS – While some curse the winter weather in the Interior, some (crazy) people have an appreciation for the fluffy white stuff. Skiers and snowboarders have hit the slopes after the opening of Sun Peaks almost two weeks ago. Then again, they're love for the snow may be misleading — they're covered head-to-toe in snow gear (cheaters).
This week, the mountain also held its annual Toonie Day fundraiser and almost 2,000 people came out to play in the snow, says Brandi Schier from Tourism Sun Peaks.
"The season is off to a strong start with a lot of early season guests," she says. "We've also had a great snow year so far."
As for the snow enthusiasts, here's what they've had to say on social media in the first couple weeks of the season. Spoiler: there's snow.
