Richmond, B.C., man arrested after fatal stabbing in Vancouver building lobby

VANCOUVER – Vancouver Police have arrested a 65-year-old Richmond, B.C., man after a fatal stabbing early this morning.

Police were initially searching for the suspect after being called to a west side Vancouver apartment building around 6:30 a.m. on reports of a fight.

Officers found a 59-year-old man in the lobby with apparent stab wounds, and he was rushed to hospital but died a short time later.

Const. Randy Fincham says the suspect and victim knew each other, but the suspect was not immediately apprehended.

He says officers arrested the accused shortly after 8 a.m. with the help of Coquitlam RCMP.

An investigation into the motive has now begun.
