UPDATE: Wildfire burning near Savona under control
KAMLOOPS – The wildfire burning west of Kamloops today is now under control.
B.C. Wildfire says the blaze, which broke out earlier this afternoon near Savona, had jumped from two to five hectares today, July 29, before crews got a handle on it. Six ground personnel and two air tankers were working on quenching the blaze, but the air efforts have stopped for the day.
The fire is now referred to as Jimmies Creek wildfire and is a little further west than previously stated. Still, no structures are at risk of damage or evacuation, according to the Kamloops Fire Centre.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
