Future Kamloops Search and Rescue puppy gets a name

KAMLOOPS — Kamloops Search and Rescue has found a name for a young canine that will soon join their team.

The volunteer organization has picked the name Taseko after receiving more than 500 name suggestions, the group says in a post to Facebook.

"Now that he has found a name, next up is basic training before a puppy assessment can take place to see if he will be accepted into the search dog training program," the post reads.

The Kamloops search group turned to social media earlier this week to ask the public's help in naming the young pup. The group says they received more than 1,000 comments, emails and private messages with hundreds of name suggestions.
