New Jonathan Franzen novel, ‘Purity,” coming in September, 5 years after his previous book

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Jonathan Franzen has a new novel coming — just five years after his previous one.

Publisher Farrar, Straus & Giroux announced Monday that Franzen’s “Purity,” a multigenerational story that spans the globe, will come out in September 2015. Franzen is known for the million sellers and Oprah Winfrey picks “Freedom” and “The Corrections,” both of which took nearly a decade to complete. “The Corrections” won the National Book Award in 2001.

His other books include the novels “The Twenty-Seventh City” and “Strong Motion” and the memoir “The Discomfort Zone.”
