Veteran defensive end Baggs returns to CFL with Calgary Stampeders

CALGARY – Stevie Baggs is back in the CFL.

The veteran import defensive end was among three players signed Monday by the Calgary Stampeders. Also joining the squad are import defensive linemen Donavan Robinson and Michael Stover.

The 30-year-old Baggs joins the Stampeders after recently receiving an injury settlement with the NFL’s Baltimore Ravens. Calgary will become the fifth CFL team Baggs has played with, having previously suited up for Winnipeg, Edmonton, Saskatchewan and Hamilton.

The six-foot-one, 241-pound Baggs signed with Hamilton in 2010 after being released by the NFL’s Arizona Cardinals and remained with the Ticats through the 2011 campaign before being let go.

Baggs, entering his seventh CFL season, has appeared in 62 career games and recorded 26 sacks, 152 tackles, two interceptions, eight forced fumbles and seven fumble recoveries.

Robinson played collegiately at Jackson State and spent time with the NFL’s New York Jets and New Orleans Saints.

Stover originally signed with Calgary in May and attended training camp before being released. He spent four seasons at William & Mary.
