Stevie Wonder headlining fundraiser for Louisiana’s embattled Democratic Sen. Mary Landrieu

BATON ROUGE, La. – Stevie Wonder is lending a hand to endangered Democratic U.S. Sen. Mary Landrieu.

The legendary musician is performing at a $1,000-per-person fundraiser Dec. 1 in New Orleans to drum up campaign cash for the Big Easy Committee, a joint committee that supports Landrieu and the Democratic State Central Committee of Louisiana.

The event is being advertised as an “Intimate Evening with Stevie Wonder.” For $5,000, a couple also can attend a smaller “patron reception” with the musician.

Landrieu, who is seeking a fourth term, faces an uphill fight to re-election in the Dec. 6 runoff against Republican challenger U.S. Rep. Bill Cassidy.

The fundraiser with Wonder could give Landrieu’s campaign a jolt of cash in the final days, as she struggles to combat attack ads from outside groups supporting Cassidy.
