BOSTON – Yo-Yo Ma and Andris Nelsons got a chance to make some beautiful music together.
Ma, the internationally acclaimed cellist, and Nelsons, the Boston Symphony Orchestra’s new music director, have joined forces for their first BSO performance together.
The pair rehearsed Thursday ahead of an evening performance kicking off a sold-out, three-concert series featuring Prokofiev’s Symphony Concerto for cello and orchestra.
The Latvian-born Nelsons is the 15th music director in the BSO’s history, and at age 36, he’s the youngest in more than a century.
