Woman missing in the bush in South Okanagan for five days now home safe

PENTICTON – Penticton RCMP report missing person Megan Roberts has been located.

Penticton RCMP Sgt. Carmen Penney said in a press release issued yesterday evening, Aug. 11, the missing 32-year-old was found and now resting safe at home following five days in the bush.

“Due to her exceptional survival skills she managed to survive five days in the bush. She ate berries and moss, and found water wherever she could,” Penney said.

It is suspected she found herself walking towards Hedley, at one point following Hedley Creek in the forest. She eventually made her way back to the forest service road where she was picked up Sunday afternoon around 5:30 by a truck and given a ride to Hedley.

Penney said RCMP members were impressed by her tale of survival.

I have been looking for news in the South Okanagan - SImilkameen for 20 years, having turned a part time lifelong interest into a full time profession. After five years publishing a local newsletter, several years working as a correspondent / stringer for several local newspapers and seven years as editor of a Similkameen weekly newspaper, I joined iNFOnews.ca in 2014. I am currently married to my wife Judy, of 26 years. We are empty-nesters who enjoy living in Kaleden with our Welsh Terrier, Angus, and cat, Tibbs.
Our two daughters, Meagan and Hayley, reside in Richmond and Victoria, respectively.
