Jury announced for 2015 RBC Taylor Prize for literary non-fiction

TORONTO – Former National Ballet of Canada director Kevin Garland, former Globe and Mail books editor Martin Levin and author Andrew Preston have been named to the jury for the 2015 RBC Taylor Prize.

The prize awards $25,000 to the best work of literary non-fiction. Runners up receive $2,000 apiece.

The long list is to be revealed on Dec. 10, with the winner to be announced March 2.

Preston won the prize — which is named for the late author Charles Taylor — in 2013.

Last year it was awarded to Thomas King for “The Inconvenient Indian.”

Beginning last year, the prize announced the new annual RBC Taylor Emerging Writer Award, with a goal of giving assistance to a published Canadian author who is working on a significant writing project. It is worth $10,000.
