Push-ups to pay wife’s dental bills
VERNON – Ten thousand push-ups to take away his wife’s dental pain is a Vernon man’s mission this Christmas.
Richard Ferguson has launched a fundraising campaign to raise the $10,000 necessary for his wife Crystal to have needed dental surgery. Ferguson’s fundraising page explains the situation. Crystal, a mother of four, suffered a calcium deficiency during her last pregnancy causing all of her teeth to rot and fall apart. The family has no dental plan or medical assistance. In the past two months, three of Crystal’s teeth broke while she was eating. In the past six months, a total of five teeth have broken, and she has had six gum and jaw infections, and three abscessed teeth.
“She does not have even one good tooth left in her mouth, and it is literally destroying her daily life,” Ferguson says.
She has problems eating, and the pain is so severe she has trouble performing daily tasks and playing with her children. Regular painkillers like Advil and Tylenol don’t even touch the pain anymore.
Tooth infections are serious business, and have even led to death in some cases.
Ferguson wants to raise $10,000 by Jan. 2, and he promises to perform one push-up for every dollar donated, on camera. You can watch his progress in a YouTube video. At this rate, he’ll have to do 333 push-ups a day. So far in the past two days, he’s received $1,280 in donations.
