Biggest and best Brewloops headed to Kamloops

KAMLOOPS – The upcoming fall Brewloops will be bigger than ever, with more beer, ciders, music and activities than any of the previous events.

Brewloops is happening on September 27 and 28 at McArthur Island Park in Kamloops.

Tyson Andrykew, who is on the board of organizers for the event, says that this Brewloops will bring in more people than they've ever seen, and have one of the best entertainment lineups yet.

“This year will be bigger and better than ever,” says Andrykew.

According to Andrykew, this Brewloops will have 30 per cent more tickets available than previous events, and they expect to see 2,200 people per night enjoying the beer gardens. The family-friendly population is expected to bring in between 1,500 and 2,000 people.

Not only will the event bring in more people than ever, but the same goes for the musical lineup.

“For the fall event we kind of want to up our game as far as the musical acts go, so we have a second stage, plus we’re bringing in a lot more artists, so there should be something for everyone to enjoy,” Andrykew says.

There will be some local performers as well as some bigger B.C. bands entertaining the crowds.

“Headlining are The Zolas on Saturday night, an indie rock band out of Vancouver, on Friday night we’ve got The Dudes, and then Sinister,” says Andrykew. “A local band that is playing on Saturday that people will be familiar with is At Mission Dolores, and there’s many more.”

Of course, the biggest part of the event is the beer and cider. Andrykew says 30 vendors are registered to partake in the event, with local companies and breweries from around the province pouring their craft.

“This year we’ll have more breweries and cideries than we've ever had attend, right now we have over 30 confirmed,” says Andrykew. “All the other local favourites are going to be there, Iron Road, Red Collar, Noble Pig and then we’ve got a lot of familiar ones that have been to our events, some great breweries from around the province like Lighthouse, Phillips, Yellow Dog, Persephone, Driftwood, and Left Field Cider.”

If you didn’t think it could get any better, there will be a Ferris wheel and bumper cars, too. On Friday night, you can try your hand at axe throwing, and on Saturday you can check out magician Clinton W. Gray.

Anyone who cycles to the event can drop off their ride at a free bike valet and pick it up later from a secure bike locker, which is something new this year.

Brewloops is a volunteer-run event, with proceeds donated to non-profit organizations like the Western Canada Theatre and the Rotary Club of Kamloops West, among others.

“I think over the last couple of years we've donated more than $75,000 back to the community,” Andrykew says. “We’re hoping for 2019 we might be able to meet that or double that.”
