LUMBY – With the holiday season comes an increased number of complaints to RCMP about thefts from cars in the area.
Lumby/Cherryville RCMP say they've received more than 60 calls, mainly from the Cedar Ridge and Valleyview Trailer Park at 446 Mabel Lake Road.
Apparently, someone is going from house to house checking for unlocked vehicles with keys inside, loose change and any other items of value.
During the early hours Dec. 2, dozens of vehicles were entered in Valleyview Trailer Park, and two more vehicles were stolen. One was recovered in the trailer park, the other in Vernon.
On Dec. 4, a Lumby man, 33, who is well known to police was arrested for the thefts. Mounties say he has an extensive criminal past and for his latest arrest, will stand before the judge with 12 counts of theft recommended against him.
