Police seize massive cache of weapons at Edmonton home after finding bomb

EDMONTON – Police in Edmonton found a whole lot of weapons at a home in which they found an explosive device.

Earlier this week, residents in a southeast Edmonton neighbourhood were told to leave their homes while the bomb squad moved in to detonate the device.

Police said the explosives were industrial grade, but added the incident was not believed to have any links to terrorism.

The device was found while police were doing a drug investigation.

Officers also found and seized 12 firearms, prohibited silencers and suppressors, 28 prohibited magazines, a large quantity of ammunition and body armour.

Police also seized two stolen skid steers and a stolen flat deck trailer, as well as drugs and cash at a different residence.

Graham McCagherty, who is 30, is facing more than 70 weapon and drug charges.
