Reba McEntire, Brooks & Dunn new Vegas headliners after Celine Dion shows cancelled

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Country musicians Reba McEntire and Brooks & Dunn are joining forces to become the newest headliners on the Las Vegas Strip.

Plans for their show at Caesars Palace, “Together in Vegas,” were unveiled Wednesday. The casino and co-producer AEG Live announced 12 show dates, including performances in June, July and December 2015.

Tickets start at $59.50 and will go on sale Dec. 4.

The Colosseum had previously been home to Celine Dion, but the superstar vocalist announced in August that she needed to cancel all shows scheduled through March to focus on her health, her husband’s recovery from a cancerous tumour, and raising her three children.

The five-time Grammy winner launched her popular Las Vegas residency in 2003 and regularly sold out the 4,000-seat venue.

McEntire is a two-time Grammy winner and has a litany of country music awards to her name. She has since branched out into TV, starring in the sitcom “Reba” and “Malibu Country.”

She is currently recording her first new music in more than five years.

Brooks & Dunn released their first album in 1991 and are known for hits including “Boot Scootin’ Boogie” and “Only in America.” The duo has also won two Grammy awards and dozens of country music honours.

McEntire has toured with the country duo before and the trio tougher recorded “Cowgirls Don’t Cry.”

At a press conference, they said the idea for the show came up during a dinner about six months ago, but revealed little about their production’s plans.

“He’s going to be the flash and sparkle,” McEntire joked of Ronnie Dunn.

The announcement comes as the National Finals Rodeo returns to Las Vegas this week.
