This volunteer organization has less than one week to meet its goal
KAMLOOPS – Staff at Developing World Connections, an international volunteer organization, is asking for Aeroplan mile donations to help them offset travel costs for their work abroad.
“Using donated Aeroplan Miles for our travel needs allows more donor funds to directly reach communities in need and project beneficiaries,” Sarah Johnstone from Developing World Connections says. “It is also a great way for people who can’t yet take a trip with us to contribute to our organization in a meaningful way.”
Throughout the years, the organization has received over one million miles in donations – helping save thousands of dollars in trips to help the less fortunate in developing countries.
In 2013, Developing World Connections raised over 100,000 miles. This year, the goal to meet is 150,000 but so far has only collected 25,000.
“If we get to 90 per cent of our goal, Aeroplan will contribute an additional 10 per cent to bump us up to 150,000 points,” Johnstone says. “But of course, we would love to exceed that goal. The Kamloops community is very generous and we’re hoping for their support again this year.”
The organization has one week left to raise the Aeroplan miles. To make a donation, visit Developing World Connection's Aeroplan Beyond Miles page or go to www.developingworldconnections.org.
