TORONTO – Guy Maddin and Bruce McDonald are among the Canadian directors who will screen films at next month’s Sundance Film Festival.
Maddin’s “The Forbidden Room” is part of the out-of-competition New Frontier Film category and stars Charlotte Rampling and Karine Vanasse.
McDonald, meanwhile, is at the festival with “Hellions,” which stars Rossif Sutherland and centres on a Halloween night plagued by sinister trick-or-treaters.
That film will also screen out of competition as part of the Park City at Midnight program.
Also screening is “Turbo Kid” from Montreal writing-directing team Anouk Whissell, Francois Simard and Yoann-Karl Whissell, a film that casts Munro Chambers (“Degrassi”) as an orphan in the post-apocalyptic future who faces off against the sadistic Zeus (played by Toronto’s Michael Ironside).
The Park City, Utah, festival runs Jan. 22 to Feb. 1.
