VERNON – For the second time in just over a month police raided the same Vernon property finding drugs, cash and stolen goods.

According to a Vernon North Okanagan RCMP media release officers obtained a search warrant and searched the property on the 2800 block of 35 Street at around 5 p.m yesterday, Aug. 21. Police found what is believed to be heroin, crystal methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, an undisclosed amount Canadian currency, as well as stolen property.

Eleven individuals were there at the time and some attempted to flee but were apprehended by a police dog.

"Our police officers recognize the impact these types of residences have in a community," RCMP media liaison officer Cpl. Tania Finn said in the release. "When we noticed the suspect activity at this property continued after the first search warrant in July, police resources were allocated to conduct an additional follow up investigation."

Finn said the individuals of the residence are known to police and the investigation is ongoing.

Police are now trying to identify the owners of the stolen property that was recovered. Police are working with Vernon's bylaw office and the property owner to reduce further calls to the property.
