Fourth B.C. New Democrat MLA announces she won’t be running in 2013 election

VICTORIA – A fourth B.C. New Democrat has announced plans to not run in next year’s provincial election.

Coquitlam-Malliardville MLA Diane Thorne was first elected in 2005.

NDP Leader Adrian Dix thanked the former Coquitlam councillor for her many years of public service, saying she is a passionate advocate for social services and improving people’s lives.

Other New Democrats not seeking re-election next May are MLAs Dawn Black, Michael Sather and Gary Coons.

So far, 14 members of Premier Christy Clark’s Liberal caucus have announced they won’t be running in 2013.
