KAMLOOPS — Police say they arrested two people and removed a prohibited weapon thanks to a tip from the public.

Kamloops RCMP Sgt. Michael Buxton-Carr says police don't know why the man and woman had a 12-gauge sawed-off shotgun at the Kamloops Greyhound Bus Depot on Christmas Eve but do not believe there was any intent to threaten or harm passengers or employees.

They arrested a 28-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman—both from Alberta—and they are charged with possession of a prohibited weapon and breach of recognizance.

"The RCMP wish to acknowledge the timely cooperation from the public that led to the recovery of this dangerous weapon," Buxton-Carr says.
