WASHINGTON – Congressional aides say a final agreement has been sealed on a massive $1.1 trillion government-wide spending bill that would prevent a government shutdown and fund most of the government through next September.
The hard-fought agreement would delay a politically-charged struggle over President Barack Obama’s new immigration policy until the new year but allow Republicans to take full control of Congress next month with a clean slate.
The huge bill, to be officially released late Tuesday, also contains numerous policy provisions on financial regulations, the federal school lunch program and the maximum permissible workweek for long-haul truckers.
The House and Senate are expected to adopt the measure this week despite grumbling from conservatives that it’s too big
