New novel by Nobel laureate Patrick Modiano to be published in US late next year

NEW YORK, N.Y. – A recent work of fiction by Nobel laureate Patrick Modiano will be published in the U.S. late next year.

Houghton Mifflin Harcourt announced Sunday that it has acquired “So You Don’t Get Lost in the Neighborhood” (“Pour que tu ne te perdes pas dans le quartier”). The publisher calls it a “haunting novel of suspense” set, like much of Modiano’s work, in Paris.

The book came out in France this fall.

Modiano was awarded the Nobel prize last fall, and his work is gradually receiving more exposure. His other books available in English include a collection of novellas, “Suspended Sentences,” the novel “Honeymoon” and the Holocaust story “Dora Bruder.”

The 69-year-old delivered his Nobel lecture last week in Stockholm.
