TORONTO – Some of the most active companies traded Monday on the Toronto Stock Exchange:

Toronto Stock Exchange (13,705.14, down 25.91 points):

Talisman Energy Inc. (TSX:TLM). Oil and gas. Up 93 cents, or 18.45 per cent, to $5.97 on 15 million shares. The issue shot up after Talisman confirmed it is engaged in discussions with Spanish oil major Repsol regarding a potential takeover of the company. Repsol said separately that its board will discuss a potential bid for 100 per cent of Talisman.

Encana Corp. (TSX:ECA). Oil and gas. Down 59 cents, or 4.18 per cent, to $13.53 on 7.7 million shares.

Trevali Mining Corp. (TSX:TV). Miner. Up one cent, or one per cent, to $1.01 on 6.9 million shares.

Pinetree Capital Ltd. (TSX:PNP). Brokers and exchanges. Down 1.5 cents, or 13.04 per cent, to 10 cents on six million shares.

Ivanhoe Mines Ltd. (TSX:IVN). Miner. Up two cents, or 2.41 per cent, to 85 cents on 5.9 million shares.

Canadian Oil Sands Ltd. (TSX:CNQ). Oil and gas. Down 45 cents, or 4.97 per cent, to $8.60 on 5.5 million shares.

Companies reporting major news:

CAE Inc. (TSX:CAE). Aerospace and defence. Up nine cents, or 0.61 per cent, to $14.83 on 430,324 shares. The Montreal-based company has received $115-million worth of contracts for training equipment and services from military customers in Poland and elsewhere. The company will design and build a full flight simulator for the Polish air force, to be delivered in 2017, to train crews for C295 transport planes.
