Vehicle fire slows traffic on Silver Star Road

VERNON – Traffic was backed up at the scene of a vehicle fire on Silver Star Road as emergency crews dealt with the blaze this afternoon.

Firefighters from the BX Swan Lake Fire Department and Silver Star Fire Department were called to a vehicle fire on Silver Star Road north of Sovereign Lake Road at about 3 p.m. today, Aug. 30.

The fire was doused quickly, according to reports.

There is currently no word on the cause of the blaze or any resulting injuries.

The vehicle fire is the second fire reported near Silver Star today.

Earlier in the afternoon, the B.C. Wildfire Service confirmed that a small wildfire is burning in the area.

Fire information officer Taylor MacDonald said that fire is believed to be human-caused.
