West Kelowna elementary school part of water quality advisory

WEST KELOWNA – The Mar Jok Elementary School is one of a number of West Kelowna water users who have been warned about drinking tap water.

The water quality advisory issued by the City of West Kelowna today, Sept. 3, also includes a commercial property at 2081 McDougal Rd. and a church at 2170 McDougal Rd.

“A Water Quality Advisory means some risk is associated with consuming drinking water, and children, the elderly, people with weakened immune systems and anyone else seeking added protection should use boiled water, or an alternate, safe source, for drinking, brushing teeth, washing fruits and vegetables, preparing food, making beverages and ice and mixing baby formula,” states a news release from the City of West Kelowna.

More than a dozen residential streets are also affected.

Crews are working on fixing the problem as quickly as possible.
