UPDATE: RCMP identify bald man alleged to have damaged North Okanagan chicken hatchery

NORTH OKANAGAN – RCMP have identified a man, seen with a group of teenagers, who is believed to have damaged a North Okanagan chicken hatchery.

According to a Vernon North Okanagan RCMP release the man was captured by a surveillance camera walking around a Spallumcheen chicken hatchery late at night, along with seven teenagers. They are believed to have caused damage to the hatchery.

The incident happened just after 10 p.m. Aug. 23, at the hatchery in the 2200 block of Pleasant Valley Road in Spallumcheen.

RCMP had earlier requested the public help in identifying the man. Police now say the man has been identified and they are continuing the investigation into the incident. Police do not identify the man or say what charges, if any, he may be facing.

"The surveillance cameras captured what appears to be seven teenage youths and one adult male walking around the property. It is believed the seven youths and adult male were involved in damaging property at the hatchery," Vernon RCMP spokesperson Const. Kelly Brett said in the release. 

The male was described as Caucasian, 40 to 50 years of age and bald He was wearing a grey jacket, blue T-shirt, cargo style beige shorts and brown trail shoes.

Due to the Youth Criminal Justice Act images of the teenagers will not be released, police say.
