German and Nepalese climbers killed by avalanche on Mount Manaslu in Nepal; 13 others missing

KATMANDU, Nepal – Police in Nepal say an avalanche has swept away climbers on a Himalayan peak, killing a German and a Nepalese and leaving 13 others missing.

Police official Basanta Bahadur Kuwar says the avalanche swept down Mount Manaslu in northern Nepal today.

He says a German man and a Nepalese guide were killed.

The 13 missing include Germans, French and Nepalese.

Kuwar says 10 others on the team were able to survive.

Details of the accident are still sketchy.
