Kopitar named NHL first star of the week with nine points in three games

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Los Angeles Kings centre Anze Kopitar is the NHL’s first star of the week after putting up a goal and eight assists in three games.

After opening the week with an assist in a 5-2 loss to St. Louis on Tuesday, Kopitar then set a career high with five points and matched a career high with four assists in a 6-4 come-from-behind victory over the Blues in Thursday’s second half of their home-and-home series.

He capped the week by posting three assists in a 4-2 win over Arizona on Saturday.

Philadelphia winger Jakub Voracek is the week’s second star with three goals and four assists in four games.

Pittsburgh goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury is the third star after posting a 3-0-0 with a 0.99 goals-against average, .971 save percentage and one shutout for the Eastern Conference-leading Penguins.
