San Jose Sharks forward John Scott handed four-game suspension

The National Hockey League’s Department of Player Safety announced Wednesday that San Jose Sharks forward John Scott has been suspended for four games, without pay, for an incident that occurred in Monday’s game against the Anaheim Ducks.

Scott was handed his punishment for punching an unsuspecting opponent and causing an injury to Ducks forward Tim Jackman. The incident took place at 8:18 of the second period. Scott did not receive a penalty on the play.

The 32-year-old Edmonton native is considered a repeat offender under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and, based on his average annual salary, will forfeit US$34,146.36. The money goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.

Scott has one goal and one assist and 24 penalty minutes in 15 games this season with the Sharks.
