Too much of a good thing? German soccer team switches hotel to avoid Russian model contest

BERLIN – It seems that sharing a hotel with 400 Russian models isn’t every sportsman’s idea of a good time.

German third-division soccer team Duisburg says it has changed the hotel booking for its winter training camp in Turkey next week after learning that the hotel it had reserved is hosting a pageant of Russian models.

Duisburg said that the club wants to “prepare calmly” for its matches and the original hotel may also have been overbooked. The team will be staying at another hotel in the Mediterranean city of Antalya’s Lara district from Jan. 8-16.
