Justin Trudeau met by high energy crowd in Kamloops

KAMLOOPS – Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau stopped by downtown Kamloops today as the federal election campaign entered its second day.

Trudeau spoke to a crowd at the campaign office of Kamloops-Thompson-Cariboo Liberal candidate Terry Lake on Victoria Street today, Sept. 12.

Both Lake and Trudeau spoke briefly to a crowded room.

“I want to thank each and every one of you for being so patient but being so enthusiastic because Kamloops-Thompson-Cariboo is going to be a Liberal for the first time in years,” Lake said.

Trudeau thanked Lake for his commitment to the community over the years during his time serving the public sector in various positions.

“It’s so exciting to look at the future with extraordinary team members like Terry who are going to commit themselves every single day to working for the middle class,” Trudeau said.

Trudeau also talked about some of the accomplishments of the Liberal government over the last four years including job creation, lifting thousands of people out of poverty, addressing climate change and reconciliation with First Nations groups.

Trudeau also stopped by Hello Toast, a nearby brunch restaurant, to shake hands with customers before heading over to Lake's campaign office.

A small group of protestors gathered outside Lake’s campaign office to bring attention to the Phoenix pay system for Canadian federal employees. The group left before Trudeau arrived.

Trudeau landed in B.C. last night and is now heading to Edmonton.

This is the third time he has visited Kamloops.
