WHL Roundup: Dryden Hunt leads Medicine Hat Tigers past Victoria Royals 3-2

VICTORIA – Dryden Hunt’s power-play goal near the midway mark of the third period held up as the winner as the Medicine Hat Tigers fended off the Victoria Royals for a 3-2 victory on Thursday in Western Hockey League action.

Ty Schultz and Chad Labelle also scored for Medicine Hat (28-9-2), while Marek Langhamer made 20 saves for the Tigers’ third straight win.

Travis Brown’s goal at the 16:46 mark of the third brought Victoria (20-19-3) to within a goal, but it was not enough for the Royals. Tyler Soy scored in the first, while Coleman Vollrath stopped 31 shots.

The Tigers went 1 for 6 on the power play, while the Royals went 0 for 4 with the man advantage.
